The President of Poland His Excellency Aleksander Kwasnıewski will pay an official visit to Turkey on April 14-16, 2000, upon the invitation of the President of the Republic of Turkey, H. E. Süleyman Demirel. The said visit which was envisaged for September 13-15, 1999 had to be postponed due to the İzmit earthquake disaster in August,1999.
The President of Poland H.E. Aleksander Kwasniewski will be accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Bronislaw Geremek and a high level delegation.
The visiting President will have a meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkey, H. E. Süleyman Demirel, will pay a visit to the Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly H. E. Yıldırım Akbulut and will address the General Assembly. The Polish President will also receive the Turkish Prime Minister, H. E. Bülent Ecevit.
In the talks between the delegations to be headed by the two Presidents, bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest will be taken up.
Special attention will be paid to the economic cooperation between Turkey and Poland. Polish President will be accompanied by a group of businessmen.
H.E. President Kwasniewski and the accompanying delegation following their stay in Ankara will also be visiting Göreme, İzmir and İstanbul.
