The bilateral trade volume between Turkey and United Kingdom stood at 16
billion 157 million USD in 2017, which corresponds to a decline of 5
percent compared to the year before (Turkish exports 9 billion 608 million
USD, imports 6 billion 549 million USD).
As of December 2017, there are 3,076 British companies including BP,
Vodafone, Tesco, HSBC operating in Turkey.
Main Turkish exports to United Kingdom are gold, made-up textile articles,
garments, electrical and non-electrical machinery, motor vehicles and
parts, iron and steel products, insulated wires, cables and other electric
conductors. Main imports from United Kingdom are diesel and semi-diesel
engines, automobiles, tramp iron/steel and their ingots, medicinal and
pharmaceutical products to be used in treatments and protection.
Total amount of direct investments from United Kingdom to Turkey in the
period of 2002-2017 is 9 billion 886 million USD, while the figure is 2
billion 321 million USD for investments from Turkey to United Kingdom in
the same period.
More than 1,6 million British tourists visited Turkey in 2017.
