At the 39th Turkey-EU Association Council held on April 11, 2000, it was decided to establish 8 sub-committees aiming at adapting Turkish laws and regulations to EU acquis communitaire.

Among these sub-committees, the Agriculture and Fisheries Sub-Committee is going to hold its first meeting in Brussels on June 22-23, 2000.

The beginning of the meetings of the sub-committees between Turkey and the EU is another important step for the preparations for the Accession Partnership and National Programme.
