Upon the decision taken during the Enlarged Ministerial Conference of the Neighboring Countries of Iraq, which was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, on 4 May, 2007, three working groups at experts level were formed in the fields of “energy and electricity; cooperation on security and protection of common borders; and Iraqi refugees and internally displaced persons”. Turkey is a member of each working group.
Turkey will host the first working group meeting on “energy and electricity”, on 28-29 June 2007, in Istanbul. Delegations from neighboring and regional countries as well as from international organizations will attend this meeting where issues such as Iraq’s electricity and petroleum product needs and their production will be discussed.
