Turkey aims to provide a comprehensive humanitarian assistance to Georgia following the recent developments.

In this framework, the Turkish Red Crescent Society has conveyed two trucks carrying tents, blankets and drinking water to Tbilisi on 12 August 2008.

On the other hand, in addition to this assistance, eight more trucks have been dispatched to the Turkish-Georgian border. These eight trucks and two additional trucks which are already at the border carrying 160 tonnes of food, will probably enter Georgia today.

We plan to continue sending additional humanitarian assistance including a consignment of disposible medical goods which Georgia requires.
