Relations between Türkiye and Tajikistan

Türkiye recognized Tajikistan’s on 16 December 1991 and diplomatic relations were established on 29 January 1992. The Turkish Embassy in Dushanbe and Tajikistan’s Embassy in Ankara were opened on 4 August 1992 and 16 October 1995. Turkish Embassy in Dushanbe continued its activities even during the civil war between 1992 and 1997.

Turkish-Tajik relations are based on common historical and cultural ties, which were enriched with the legacy of great thinkers like Mevlana Jalal ad-Din Rumi. Today, the two countries are determined to further strengthen their cooperation in every field.

During the President of Tajikistan İmamali Rahman’s visit to Türkiye on 18 December 2012, “Joint Declaration Regarding the Foundation of Cooperation Council between the Republic of Türkiye and the Republic of Tajikistan” was established in order to give an institutional structure to the relations between the two countries.

Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Dushanbe on 21October 2016. On this occassion, a cooperation plan for the years 2017-2020 between two Foreign Ministries was signed.

Prime-Minister of Tajikistan Qohir Rasulzoda attended the Extraordinary Islamıc Summit Conference on Al-Quds, in İstanbul,13 December 2017.

Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan attended the Extraordinary Islamıc Summit Conference which took place on 18 May 2018 in İstanbul.

Sirojiddin Muhriddin, Minister of Foreign Affairs Of Tajikistan paid an official visit to Ankara on 22-23 April 2019.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid an official visit to Tajikistan in the margin of CICA Summit on 15th of June in 2019.

At the international fora, Türkiye and Tajikistan enjoy solidarity and close cooperation.
