The  Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. İsmail Cem is going to pay a working  visit  to Brussels  and  Luxembourg  on 31 January-2 February 2000 to have  contacts  with  the  EU representatives.

During  his  visit, the Minister will meet with the EU's Defence  and  Foreign  Policy Chief,  Mr.   Javier  Solana,  EU Commisioner   Responsible  for  Enlargement,   Mr.  Gunter Verheugen  and  EU Commissioner Responsible for Foreign Trade, Mr. Pascal   Lamy  and will  attend  a  working  dinner  to  be  hosted  by  Mr.  Verheugen,  the  Commisioner.  The Minister   will also meet Mr. Philippe Maystadt, the Head of European Investment Bank  in Luxembourg on 2nd of February.

At these first contacts at political level between Turkey and the EU after the official recognition  of  Turkey's candidate status to the EU, views will be exchanged on  the  works to be realized in the period, ahead.
