Turkey is deeply concerned and saddened by events that resulted with blood-shedding among brothers in Gaza, and the dissolution of the National Unity Government which was established in the aftermath of the Mekkah Agreement.

These incidents harm the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people. It is also a source of concern since the failure to resolve current problems among the Palestinians carries the risk of demolishing the very basis of the future Palestinian state and its institutions. We call upon all sides to immediately come together with a view to solving their disagreements through dialogue, and to refrain from any act that would endanger the future of Palestine. It would be also beneficial if the international community adopts an approach focused on national reconciliation rather than that of isolation and division.

The continuation of the constitutional process without interruption carries utmost importance in preventing the fraternal bloodshed. In this respect, we would like to emphasize our support to the efforts that would be shown by President Mahmoud Abbas and the new Government under the leadership of Dr. Salam Fayyad for the normalization of the situation in Palestine and the restoration of the national consensus.

Turkey is also ready to provide all kinds of humanitarian assistance to the friendly and brotherly people of Palestine and particularly to the residents of Gaza with a view to preventing further aggravation of their situation.
