NO:38 - 23 February 2007, Press Release Regarding the visit of H.E. Abdullah Gül, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, to Pakistan and Afghanistan;(Unofficial Translation)

 

Upon the invitation of his counterpart, Mr. Abdullah Gül, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, will visit Pakistan on 24-25 February 2007 to attend the Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs on the developments in the Middle East. The Secretary General of the OIC and the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, Malaysia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan are also invited to the said meeting. Following his trip to Pakistan, Minister Gül will pay an official visit to Afghanistan on 26-27 February 2007.

In Afghanistan, Minister Gül will first visit the Turkish Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in the province of Wardak, which is approximately 35 km. away from Kabul. Later on, Minister Gül will be visiting Camp Dogan in Kabul where the Command of the Turkish Task Force in Afghanistan is stationed. He will also have lunch with the military personnel serving there.

In Kabul, Minister Gül will have an audience with H.E. Mr. Hamid Karzai, President of Afghanistan, and will meet H.E. Dr. Rengin Dadfar Spanta, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and H.E. General Abdurrahim Wardak, Minister of Defense of Afghanistan.
