Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto of Hungary paid a visit to Turkey on 23 August 2016 to demonstrate the solidarity of the Government of Hungary following the failed coup attempt on 15 July. Speaking at the joint press conference, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu, who expressed his thanks to Hungary for the support given following the coup attempt, stated that the next meeting of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council will be held in Turkey, and that the common goal is to further increase bilateral trade volume.
