Foreign Minister Javad Zarif of the Islamic Republic of Iran paid a visit to Turkey on 12 August 2016. In the meetings during the visit, all aspects of bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues were discussed. Speaking at the joint press conference after his meeting with Foreign Minister Zarif, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed his thanks to Iran for providing support against the coup attempt, and stated that mutual high level visits will continue.
