Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu paid a visit to Kazakhstan on 19-20 October 2016 to participate in the third Joint Strategic Planning Group Meeting held by the Foreign Ministers of two countries, as part of the preparations for the third High-Level Strategic Council Meeting to take place in Turkey in 2017 at the level of Presidents.

In the meetings held during the visit, bilateral relations and issues of cooperation were discussed. Speaking at the joint press conference organized after their meetings, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu and Foreign Minister Idrissov underlined the common goal of further strengthening bilateral relations. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu also expressed his thanks to Kazakhstan for showing solidarity and support after the heinous coup attempt.
