On 4 February 2009, USA, designated PJAK (The Free Life Party), PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorist organization’s arm in Iran, as a terrorist organization by including it, with all its names, to the US’ list of terrorist organizations, froze any assets that PJAK may have in USA and prohibited its nationals from engaging in any dealing with PJAK. We are pleased with this decision of USA.

It is also welcomed that in the statement by the U.S. on the matter, PJAK's terrorist ties with the PKK were exposed and support to Turkey's efforts to protect its citizens from attacks was affirmed.

Turkey and USA continue to cooperate in the field of counterterrorism. We hope that the inclusion of PJAK to the USA’s list of terrorist organizations will constitute an important step in the course of combat against PKK/KONGRA-GEL.
