QA-70, 2 November 2018, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hami Aksoy, in Response to a Question Regarding the Decision on Lifting Sanctions Against U.S. Attorney General and the Secretary of Homeland Security

In accordance with the principle of reciprocity that constitutes the essence of diplomatic practices, we responded in the same fashion when the United States Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions against Minister of Interior, Mr. Süleyman Soylu, and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abdülhamit Gül on August 1st, 2018. Hence, we imposed sanctions against the United States Attorney General Mr. Jeff Sessions and the United States Secretary of Homeland Security Ms. Kirstjen M. Nielsen.

In parallel with the decision of the United States Department of the Treasury to lift the said sanctions against Minister of Interior, Mr. Süleyman Soylu and Minister of Justice Mr. Abdülhamit Gül, we have decided to lift sanctions against the United States Attorney General Mr. Jeff Sessions and the United States Secretary of Homeland Security Ms. Kirstjen M. Nielsen on the following:

The entry ban to Turkey,

The blocking of their assets in our country,

The ban by any real persons and legal entities in Turkey to enter into any kind of financial transactions and commercial dealings with Mr. Sessions and Ms. Nielsen.
