QA-31, 10 May 2019, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hami Aksoy, in Response to a Question Regarding the News in the French Media and the Statements by the French Minister of Education on Opening Turkish School in France by the Embassy of Turkey

The arguments concerning the recent news and statements on opening Turkish school in France by the Embassy of Turkey in the French media do not reflect reality; on the contrary, they constitute manipulative elements.

We note the statements of the French Minister of Education with surprise and great dismay and understand that the French Minister has not been properly informed about this process. We cannot understand and accept such illusory and totally unfounded statements.

Besides, we would like to remind that there are schools supported by the French Embassy in Turkey. The negotiations over the schools to be opened by Turkey in accordance with the French education system is essentially carried out on a reciprocal basis with these schools in Turkey.

We also strongly condemn unfounded and groundless news targeting the President of the Republic of Turkey as well and invite the French media and official authorities to share factual and precise information with the public on this issue.
