On 6 May 2019 Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met with Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg of NATO.

At the meeting, a wide range of issues including NATO-EU relations and Turkey’s S-400 purchase were evaluated. Also the preparations of the NATO Heads of State and Government meeting to be held in London were discussed.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu attended North Atlantic Council-Mediterranean Dialogue Meeting.

After the meeting Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu and NATO Secretary General held a joint press conference.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that the Mediterranean Dialogue was a concrete example of special relationship Turkey established through her historical heritage and strategic location with different areas. Minister Çavuşoğlu stated also that Turkey would give Mediterranean Dialogue partners more training and cooperation opportunities in security and defense.
