Visit of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to North Macedonia, 15-16 July 2019

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Skopje on 15-16 July 2019.

On 15 July 2019 Minister Çavuşoğlu attended the commemoration of our July 15 martyrs at the Mustafa Pasha Mosque in the historical Skopje Turkish Bazaar.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu gave a speech at the International Balkan University.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Turkey had always stood by Macedonia and would continue to do so. Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we expected concrete steps from our friends against FETO terror organization and that this would be crucial for their own future as well.

On 16 July Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Nikola Dimitrov of North Macedonia.

At the meeting bilateral relations and regional issues were discussed.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Turkey had strongly supported North Macedonia’s NATO membership and was pleased to welcome soon brotherly and friendly North Macedonia in the Alliance.

After the meeting, the two Ministers held a joint press conference.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Deputy Prime Minister for EU Affairs Bujar Osmani of North Macedonia.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that North Macedonia’s EU accession process would contribute to stability and prosperity in the Balkans.

Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu received by Prime Minister Zoran Zaev of North Macedonia.

At the meeting, all aspects of our bilateral relations were evaluated.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we were aiming to increase our bilateral trade to 1 billion Dollar. Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that we were pleased to agree that terrorist organization FETO is also a big threat for North Macedonia.
