Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Libya, 22 December 2018

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Libya on 22 December 2018.

Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Halid al-Mashri, President of the High Council of State of Libya.

At the meeting, ways to improve further our economic and commercial relations were discussed and the expectations of the Turkish companies were expressed.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that Turkish companies are encouraged to return to Libya.

Minister Çavuşoğlu met also with Fayez al-Sarraj, President of the Presidency Council of Libya.

At the meeting, Turkey’s support to the political process without foreign interference and continued dialogue with all parties without exception were emphasized.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey stands with the Libyan people unconditionally.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with Ahmad Mayteeq, Vice-President of the Presidency Council.

At the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed that Turkey stands ready to assist in every possible way in areas of education, health and infrastructure to enable Libya to rise on its feet again.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that Turkey supports the economic reforms underway in Libya.

Finally, at the meeting with his counterpart Mohammed Tahir Siyala, Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed Turkey’s support to the efforts towards a political outcome in Libya owned and led by Libyans under the facilitation of the UN.
