On 3-4 May 2019 Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to attend the Global Journalism Council Media Meeting and hold bilaterals.

On May 3, Friday, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Prime Minister Tufan Erhürman and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kudret Özersay of the TRNC. At the meeting, all issues related to the TRNC were discussed. Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey attaches importance to the voice of Turkish Cypriots to be heard and their rightful cause to be understood.

On May 4, Saturday, Minister Çavuşoğlu attended The Global Journalism Council Media Meeting, which was held in the TRNC for the first time.

At the Media Meeting, members of the press gathered from Turkey and all over the world had the chance to get firsthand information on latest developments regarding Cyprus and the realities on the Island.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with President Mustafa Akıncı of the TRNC. Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that as a guarantor country, Turkey is committed to protect all rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriots.
