Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to hold bilateral meetings and discuss recent developments in the Eastern Mediterranean on 8-9 September 2019.

On 8 September 2019 Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Turkish citizens living in TRNC and Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we would open our Consulate General in Gazimagusa, which would be our 243rd mission abroad and emphasized also that no one could be able to break up the Turkish Cypriots' love bond with the Motherland.

On 9 September 2019 Minister Çavuşoğlu met with President Mustafa Akıncı and leaders of political parties of TRNC.

At the meeting the Cyprus issue and recent developments in the Eastern Mediterranean were discussed.

Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with Prime Minister Ersin Tatar of TRNC.

At the meeting, steps to be taken in the upcoming period by our Governments in coordination for the development of TRNC were evaluated.

Finally, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Tufan Erhürman, main opposition leader of TRNC and Chairman of the Republican Turkish Party.
