Visit of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to Qatar to attend the 16th Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue, 1 May 2019

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Doha to attend the 16th Foreign Ministers Meeting of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue on 1 May 2019.

In his speech Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Asia becomes the center of global economic activity.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Turkey, playing an active role in different regions with multi-dimensional foreign policy, takes over the Asia Cooperation Dialogue term presidency from Qatar on September 2019 and that would pioneer deepening of economic cooperation in Asia as well.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani of Qatar.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that the momentum gained in our excellent relations with Qatar in the fields of economy, defence and culture continued.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with Foreign Minister Javad Zarif of Iran.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed that we should double our efforts to increase Turkey-Iran trade volume and that fighting against PKK/PJAK was top priority in our security cooperation.

Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with Foreign Minister Tilak Marapana.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey shared the grief of the Sri Lankan people and would continue standing by Sri Lanka in its fight against terrorism.
