On 10 July 2019 a meeting was held between Turkish and Iraqi delegations that came to Turkey within the process started by President Erdoğan and Iraq Prime Minister Adil Abdel Mahdi.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu,Minister of National Defence Hulusi Akar and Director of National Intelligence Organization Hakan Fidan, and from the Iraqi side Foreign Minister Mohammed Ali Alhakeem, Minister of Defence Najah Al Shammari and Head of National Intelligence Mustafa Al Kadhimi attended the meeting.

At the meeting, security cooperation and fight against terrorism were discussed. The Joint Committee established at this meeting will gather for the first time in Baghdad.
