Visit of Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu to Guatemala, 20-21 May 2019

Following his visit to Mexico, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Guatemala to attend the Third Political Forum of Turkey-Central American Integration System (SICA) Foreign Ministers’ Council and to hold bilaterals on 20-21 May 2019.

On 20 May 2019 Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by President Jimmy Morales of Guatemala.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we would further in every area Turkey-Guatemala relations that gained impetus with reciprocal opening of embassies.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu officially inaugurated the chancery of the Turkish Embassy.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Guatemala served as a solid bridge between Turkey and Central America.

On 21 May 2019 Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Sandra Erica Jovel Polanco of Guatemala.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that we would increase our trade relations with Guatemala, which is one of the most important Central American countries.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met also with Foreign Minister Manuel Ventura Robles of Costa Rica.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we would celebrate 70th anniversary of our diplomatic relations and would increase trade and mutual investments.

After the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu attended the Third Political Forum of Turkey-SICA Foreign Ministers’ Council.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that with the agreement signed with SICA, which is regional organization of Central America, our commercial and political presence in the region would be strengthened.

Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met also with Minister of Development, Industry and Commerce Solorzano Delgadillo of Nicaragua.

‪Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we were pleased that our views on regional issues with Nicaragua overlapped and we would increase our political and economic relations.
