On 13-15 March 2019, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Brussels to attend the III. Brussels Conference on Syria and Turkey-EU Association Council Meeting.

On 13 March 2019, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Georgios Katrougalos of Greece.

At the meeting, views on furthering Turkey-Greece relations in every field were exchanged.

On 14 March 2019 Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Geir Pedersen, UN Special Envoy for Syria.

At the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu expressed Turkey’s support to Geir Pedersen and emphasized the importance to maintain the engagement with the Astana platform.

On the same day at the 3rd Brussels Conference on “Supporting the Future of Syria and the Rehion”, Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that helping Syrians is a shared responsibility and the only way ro bring peace, stability and security in Syria is through a UN-mediated political process in line with UNSCR 2254.

Minister Çavuşoğlu also met with Thorbjorn Jagland, Secretary General of the Council of Europe.

At the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu stressed to Secretary General Jagland, it is vital that following his example the next Secretary General shows also a constructive attitude towards member States, and maintains dialogue, inclusiveness and fairness as guiding principles.

Minister Çavuşoğlu held bilateral meetings with Didier Reynders, Foreign Minister of Belgium, Sigrid Kaag, Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands, Suma Chakrabarti, President of the EBRD, and Foreign Minister Teodor Viorel Meleșcanu of Romania.

Finally Minister Çavuşoğlu and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, inaugurated the miniature tile board, donated by İznik Foundation to the Permanent Representation of Turkey to NATO. The board contains patterns from all around beautiful Turkey.

On 15 March 2019 Minister Çavuşoğlu attended the Turkey-EU Association Council Meeting.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that the convening of the Turkey-EU Association Council after an interval of four years is an important step and that Turkey expects the EU to fulfill its obligations based on the international principle that "agreements must be implemented" and display a visionary approach as well.
