Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu participated in the 6th İstanbul Mediation Conference on 31 October 2019.

During his opening speech at the Conference Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that Turkey puts mediation and conflict prevention in the center of our Enterprising and Humanitarian Foreign Policy.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we were contributing to international peace and stability through Mediation for Peace initiative established with Finland in UN, counting now 59 members.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met also with Foreign Minister Mohamed Alhakim of Iraq.

At the meeting, Minister Çavuşoğlu conveyed our wish that well-deserved peace and stability were ensured quickly in Iraq in line with the legitimate expectations of the Iraqi people.

Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu was received by Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani of Qatar.

At the meeting, bilateral relations and recent regional developments were discussed.

Minister Çavuşoğlu thanked for Qatar’s support to Operation Peace Spring.
