On the occasion of the 90th Anniversary of the Turkish Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spouses Solidarity Association organized “Republic Day Ball” under the auspices of President Abdullah Gül and Mrs. Gül on November 1, 2013 at Ankara Palas State Guesthouse.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu in his opening remarks emphasized that despite all the criticism, Turkey will not be contented with being a regional power and will be a global power.

Stressing that the most important distinguishing characteristics of grand nations from others is their ability to make the impossible possible during hard times Foreign Minister Davutoğlu stated that the Turkish nation got through big challenges it faced in the Afro-Eurasia each time by maintaining national unity and integrity and surprised all the other nations.

Expressing his gratefulness to, first and foremost, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as well as his brothers-in-arms and martyries Foreign Minister Davutoğlu noted that the most important duty which he never quits under any condition where ever he travels is to visit the Turkish martydoms in that country.

Highlighting that the Turkish nation did not achieve the Republic with easy gains and little sacrifices Foreign Minister Davutoğlu said “Ahead of the 100th anniversary, it is our duty to carry the Republic forward and to give a nation which was in utter destitution while founding a new state the hope of being a citizen of a global power at the 100th anniversary of the Republic” .

Foreign Minister Davutoğlu underlined that there are still lots of goals to achieve and the philosophy of the Republic will make Turkey stronger in its efforts to achieve these goals.
