Türkiye formally recognized Oman in 1970, which declared its independence
the same year and diplomatic relations between the two countries were
established in 1973.
Bilateral relations have been developing on the basis of common interests
and mutual benefits, which are also shaped by the unique and important
geostrategic positions of the two countries.
Foreign Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Oman on
28-29 October 2017 upon the invitation of the Minister Responsible for
Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Yusuf bin Alawi bin
Abdullah. In addition, H.E. Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah attended the OIC
Extraordinary Summit on Al-Quds held on 18 May 2018 in Istanbul.
On the other hand, the last round of political consultations between the
Foreign Ministries of Türkiye and Oman were held on 29 January 2017 in
Muscat.
