Bilateral Political Relations between Türkiye and Oman

Türkiye formally recognized Oman in 1970, which declared its independence the same year and diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in 1973.

Bilateral relations have been developing on the basis of common interests and mutual benefits, which are also shaped by the unique and important geostrategic positions of the two countries.

Foreign Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu paid an official visit to Oman on 28-29 October 2017 upon the invitation of the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah. In addition, H.E. Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah attended the OIC Extraordinary Summit on Al-Quds held on 18 May 2018 in Istanbul.

On the other hand, the last round of political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Türkiye and Oman were held on 29 January 2017 in Muscat.
