Diplomatic relations between Türkiye and Malta were established in 1967. Bilateral relations between Türkiye and Malta gained momentum with the opening of Consulate General of Malta in Istanbul on 14 April 2009. Subsequently, The Embassy of Malta in Ankara was inaugurated on 14 Avril 2017 whereas the Turkish Embassy in Valetta was opened in 2009.

Türkiye and Malta are enjoying friendly bilateral political relations. Malta supports Türkiye’s EU membership process.

The presence of Turkish companies in Malta consolidate the friendly relations between the two countries.
