Relations between Türkiye and Benin

Relations between Türkiye and Benin are developing on a sound basis. During the two visits made by President Talon to Türkiye in 2016 and 2018, delegations led by President Erdoğan and President Talon discussed in detail ways of furthering cooperation between the two countries. The visit of President Talon to Türkiye in 2016 was a strong support to Türkiye in the aftermath of the failed coup of July 2016.

Türkiye and Benin’s willingness to develop relations can also be seen by the opening of Embassies in both countries. The Beninese Embassy in Ankara opened in 2013, whereas the Turkish Embassy opened in Cotonou in 2014.
