Relations between Turkey and Seychelles

Bilateral political relations between Turkey and Seychelles were established in June 1995. Turkish Embassy in Nairobi is accredited to Seychelles while Seychelles is represented in Turkey through its Embassy in Paris/France.

The political relations between Turkey and Seychelles are progressing in a satisfactory manner. The President of the Assembly of Seychelles H.E. Patrick Herminie paid a visit to Turkey on the invitation of The President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly H.E. Mehmet Ali Şahin on 18-24 December 2011. The President of Seychelles Michel has qualified Turkey as “an important partner” in his letter addressed to the President of Turkey on 2009.

High level bilateral contacts have increased in recent years. Seychelles was represented with a delegation at the World Humanitarian Summit held in Istanbul on 23-24 May 2016.

In 2012, an Honorary Consulate of Seychelles was established in Ankara, additionally to the Honorary Consulate present in İstanbul.

Turkey- Seychelles bilateral trade volume amounted to 11,5 million US Dollars in 2016. 6,2 million US Dollars of this amount was Turkey’s export to Seychelles. The trade volume between two countries surged to 20.7 million US Dollars in 2017. Growth in total trade volume continued in 2018 to a total of 22.6 million US Dollars.
