Relations between Turkey and East Timor

Turkey is among the first countries recognizing and establishing diplomatic relations with Timor-Leste (also known as East Timor) after its formal independence on 20 May 2002. Turkish Embassy in Indonesia has been accredited to Timor-Leste since 2003.

Turkey and Timor-Leste share dialogue in the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP). Turkey became an Associate Observer of CPLP at its 10th Summit held in Dili, Timor-Leste on 23 July 2014. Furthermore, Turkey’s cooperation with the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) paves the way for strengthening relations with Timor-Leste.
