Diplomatic relations between Turkey and Cambodia were established in 1959.
Turkish Embassy in Phnom Penh was opened in 2013. Cambodia has two honorary
consulates in Turkey, one in Ankara and the other in İstanbul.
Foreign Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu visited Cambodia in March 2015. It
was the first visit at the level of Foreign Minister between the two
countries.
Cambodia Deputy Prime Minister and Senior Minister of Foreign Affairs and
International Cooperation H.E. Prak Sokhonn paid an official visit to
Turkey on 1-3 October 2018.
Lastly, Prime Minister of Cambodia H.E. Hun Sen’s visit to Turkey on 20-22
October 2018, which was the first Prime Ministerial visit between the two
countries, has injected new momentum into the bilateral relations of Turkey
and Cambodia.
The Cambodian-Turkish Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group was established
in the Cambodian Parliament in 2015. The Turkish-Cambodian
Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group was established in the Grand National
Assembly of Turkey on 6 March 2016.
11 Cambodian citizens are registered to be resident in Turkey while 250
Turkish citizens reside in Cambodia as of 2018.
Turkey has provided 52 scholarships to Cambodian students for their
graduate studies under the Türkiye Scholarships programme since 1992.
During the 2018-2019 academic year, 1 Cambodian student is in Turkey under
the Türkiye Scholarships at various Turkish universities.
