Relations Between Türkiye and St. Lucia

Due to geographical distance, the relations between the two countries remained limited in the past. However, bilateral relations and cooperation within international organizations began to further develop, following Türkiye's outreach policy towards the Latin America and Caribbean region, initiated in 1998 and revised in 2006.

H.E. Alva Baptiste, the then Minister of Foreign Affairs of St. Lucia, participated in the First Ministerial Meeting of the Consultation and Cooperation Mechanism between Türkiye and CARICOM on 17-21 July 2014. Air Services Agreement was signed between the two countries during this meeting.

The joint declaration on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Türkiye and St. Lucia was signed by both countries’ Permanent Representatives to the United Nations in New York on 25 May 2015.

H.E. Bradley Felix, the Minister of Commerce, Industry, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs, visited Türkiye on the occasion of the 86 th Izmir International Fair on 18-27 August 2017.

The Turkish Embassy in Port of Spain is accredited to St. Lucia. Türkiye has an Honorary Consulate General in Castries.

Bilateral trade volume between Türkiye and St. Lucia increased to 3 million USD by the end of 2019.
