QA-13, 9 April 2015, Statement of the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tanju Bilgiç, In Response to a Question Regarding the Inaugural Meeting of the Counter DAESH/ISIL Working Group on Foreign Terrorist Fighters in Istanbul, Turkey

The inaugural meeting of the Counter-DAESH/ISIL Working Group on Foreign Terrorist Fighters (WGFTF) was held in Istanbul, on 7 April 2015 under the co-chairmanship of Turkey and the Netherlands.

The WGFTF discussed an Action Plan to counter the threat posed by the FTFs.

The WGFTF Action Plan to be adopted soon, notes the terrorist threats posed by DAESH/ISIL to the region and beyond, identifies and lays down the measures that Coalition members and the international community should undertake in the fight against the phenomenon of the FTFs associated with DAESH/ISIL.

The Action Plan contains also a variety of arrangements which will promote the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolutions specifically targeted at FTFs, DAESH/ISIL and other al-Qaida associated groups in Iraq and Syria, and will contribute to the efforts of the other Coalition Working Groups.

The next meeting of the WGFTF is scheduled to take place in June 2015.
