Prime Minister Erdoğan pays a visit to Iran

Prime Minister of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid an official visit to Iran on January 28-29, 2014.

During the meetings Prime Minister Erdoğan held in Tehran, all aspects of the relations between Turkey and Iran were discussed, views were exchanged on regional and international issues.

Speaking at the joint press conference with First Vice President of Iran, Eshaq Jahangiri, Prime Minister Erdoğan stressed that bilateral relations were discussed in detail and said “ Trade volume between the two countries reached 21,8 million dollars in 2012, it was a well-balanced trade volume. Unfortunately, it decreased to 13,5 million dollars in 2013. Our target is 30 million dollars by 2015. Both parties have the political will to achieve this target. I hope that 2014 will be an important milestone and we will reach 30 million dollars target by the end of 2015”

Stating that the two countries can take mutual steps on the basis of “win-win” principle, Prime Minister Erdoğan said that the meetings during his visit were fruitful.

Before joint press conference, Agreement on the Establishment of Joint Trade Committee, Preferential Trade Agreement and Memorandum of Understanding between Iranian News Agency (IRNA) and Anatolian Agency (AA) were signed

As part of his meetings in Tehran, Prime Minister was also received by Iran’s religious leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei and President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani.

On the other hand, joint political declaration concerning the establishment of High Level Cooperation Council between the two countries was signed by Prime Minister Erdoğan and President Rouhani.
