Prime Minister Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid an official visit to Malaysia on January 10, 2014.
Prime Minister Erdoğan met with Prime Minister of Malaysia, Najib Tun Razak. At the meeting, bilateral relations as well as regional and international developments were addressed.
Speaking at the joint press conference, Prime Minister Erdoğan recalled that 2014 is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Malaysia and underlined that as part of his visit, Strategic Cooperation Action Plan which will constitute the framework of future cooperation between Turkey and Malaysia was signed.
Pointing out that Turkey and Malaysia are the countries which pursue proactive foreign policy beyond their regions Prime Minister Erdoğan said that “Our views overlap on contribution to regional and global stability. Within this framework, we can take the necessary steps by addressing current developments both in bilateral level and within the framework of international organizations such as the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and D-8.”
During his visit to Malaysia, Prime Minister Erdoğan attended a ceremony at International Islamic University Malaysia where he received an honorary PhD. Prime Minister Erdoğan also gave a speech at the conference entitled "Transforming Eastern Asia - Pacific Region and Turkey" organized by Research and Transformation Foundation and Rezzak Management School.
