Certain statements of Greek and Greek Cypriot political circles display that the Greek/Greek Cypriot mentality has not changed despite the bitter experiences of the past. The Turkish Cypriots have never been in the status of minority and they will not. To pave the way for a mutually acceptable settlement in Cyprus, such false premises should be relinquished. A just settlement could only be reached with the acceptance of the equal sovereignty of Turkish Cypriots and the Greek Cypriots. It is not possible to get anywhere with claims to the contrary.
