President Erdoğan is in Tehran

President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan paid an official visit to Tehran to attend the second meeting of the High Level Cooperation Council HLCC)mechanism established between Turkey and Iran. Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu as well as numerous Ministers accompanied President Erdoğan in his visit to Iran.

President Erdoğan who was welcomed with an official ceremony first met with his Iranian counterpart, President of Iran Islamic Republic, Rouhani. At the HLCC meeting held after the tete-a-tete meeting between the Presidents, all aspects of bilateral relations were reviewed and parties exchanged views on international and regional issues.

Speaking at the press conference held following the meeting, President Erdoğan stated that an important step was taken with the signature of eight agreements and one memorandum of understanding within the framework of the visit, and alongside politics, steps that can be taken in the fields of economy, trade and culture were discussed within the greatest extent possible.

Indicating that they discussed regional development as well as bilateral ones, President Erdoğan said that they exchanged views on the steps to be taken with regard to counter-terrorism in the bilateral and the international levels.
