Political will for EU membership was confirmed at the Reform Monitoring Group meeting

Foreign Minister Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu participated in the 28th meeting of Reform Monitoring Group which was held on 15 June 2013 under the auspices Mr. Egemen Bağış, the Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator. Mr. Muammer Güler, Minister of Interior, Mr. Sadullah Ergin, Minister of Justice, Mr. Afif Demirkıran, the Co-Chairman of the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee and Mr. Efkan Ala, Undersecretary of the Prime Ministry attended the meeting, as well.

At the meeting, the work for the revision of Judicial Reform Strategy and in this context the Fourth Judicial Pack which was entered into force on 30 April 2013 was reviewed. Besides, recent developments in terms of human rights were addressed and the Action Plan to Prevent Human Rights Violations, prepared by the Ministry of Justice was noted to be presented to the Council of Ministers at the earliest. On the other hand, following the amendment to the Law on Foundation on August 2011, restitution process of the immovable properties owned by the community foundations of Turkish citizens of different faiths was discussed. The visa exemption with the EU was also discussed and the policies of Turkey in the field of immigration and asylum were reviewed.

Ms. Fatma Şahin, Minister of Family and Social Policies will host the 29th Meeting of Reform Monitoring Group in Gaziantep in September 2013.
