11th Ambassadors Conference, 5 August 2019

The Eleventh Ambassadors Conference is being held on August 3-9, 2019 in Ankara and Samsun under the theme “Robust Diplomacy: Active on the Ground and at the Table”.

On the morning of 5 August, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and the Ambassadors visited the Martyrs’ Cemetery of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Atatürk’s Mausoleum.

On the same day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Kudret Özersay, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and thanked him for his participation in the 11th Ambassadors Conference.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that there could be no settlement in Cyprus without meeting the security concerns of Turkish Cypriots and ensuring their political equality and that we were determined to protect the rights of both Turkey and TRNC in Eastern Mediterranean.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of TRNC Kudret Özersay addressed the Ambassadors.

Later that day, Minister Çavuşoğlu met also with Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov of Uzbekistan and thanked him for his participation in the 11th Ambassadors Conference.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we deepened our relations with brotherly and strategic partner Uzbekistan on the basis of equality and mutual benefit in all areas and that the 2020-2021 Cooperation Plan signed today was a concrete step to that end.

Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov of Uzbekistan also addressed the Ambassadors.

After that meeting Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi of Jordan and thanked him for his participation in the 11th Ambassadors Conference.

Minister Çavuşoğlu emphasized that we would continue to defend together the Palestinian cause and the status of Al Quds and that we would further develop our relations with brotherly Jordan.

Foreign Minister Ayman Hsafadi of Jordan addressed the Ambassadors.

Finally, Minister Çavuşoğlu met with Minister of Culture and Tourism Mehmet Nuri Ersoy and thanked him for his participation in the 11th Ambassadors Conference.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that we were always working in close cooperation with our Ministry of Culture and Tourism in the promotion of our country abroad.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu held a consultation meeting with the Ambassadors on 4 August 2019 before the official opening of the 11th Ambassadors Conference.

On the same day, a panel on “Crisis Management and Conflict Resolution” organized on the margins of the XI. Ambassadors Conference was held. The participants in the panel were Jan Kubis, UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Karin Kneissl, former Foreign Minister of Austria, Ghassan Salame, UN Libya Special Envoy and Ambassador Ertuğrul Apakan.
