No:63, 26 February 2017, Press Release Regarding the Clashes Along the Line of Contact

We condemn the heavy fire launched against Azerbaijan along the line of contact on the night of February 24 to 25. We wish God's mercy on our fallen Azerbaijani brothers, patience to their relatives and to the Azerbaijani nation and a speedy recovery to the injured.

For a quarter century, Armenia has been occupying one-fifth of Azerbaijan's territory. In order not to experience similar clashes occurred in April 2016 along the line of contact and at some sections of Azerbaijan-Armenia border, we call on Armenia to observe the ceasefire and immediately put an end to the violations.

As a member of the OSCE Minsk Group, established for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Turkey will continue to support the efforts for reaching a just and lasting solution within the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. In this regard, we find it necessary that the Minsk Group should accelerate its efforts for resolving the conflict.

H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of the Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey had phone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart regarding the situation.
