The 54th Meeting of the Turkey-EU Association Council, the
highest decision making body established by the Ankara Agreement, will be
held in Brussels on 15 March 2019.
After an interval of almost four years the meeting will be held with the
participation of H.E. Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and
Ambassador Faruk Kaymakcı, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director
for EU Affairs, Federica Mogherini, High Representative of the EU for
Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the European
Commission and Johannes Hahn, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and
Neighbourhood Policy.
Turkish and EU sides will meet at an unofficial format before the official
session to address foreign policy issues and regional developments. At the
Council meeting, with the presence of the representatives of the Member
States, parties will exchange views on different aspects of Turkey-EU
relations, in particular accession negotiations, political criteria,
economic criteria, alignment to EU acquis, visa liberalization dialogue,
Customs Union and financial cooperation.
