We have learned with great sorrow that at least 233 people lost their lives and approximately 1000 people were injured, according to initial records, as a result of the 7.8-magnitude earthquake hitting Ecuador yesterday (16 April).

As a country who experienced similar natural disasters and sufferings in the past, we extend our condolences to the friendly Government and people of Ecuador regarding the loss of lives caused by the earthquake. Turkey is ready to provide any kind of support to Ecuador with the aim of healing the wounds of this disaster and meeting the needs of the victims.
