No: 86, 27 March 2013, Press Release on the Instability in the Central African Republic

We expect all sides to be careful for the security of the civilian population and display restraint in the situation of instability which has been on-going for some time in the Central African Republic, which we have been closely monitoring.

It is our sincere wish that the conflict environment gives way to national consensus and stability and that in this context the agreement which was reached in Libreville in January is implemented so that the country reaches peace and tranquility in unity and integrity. In this regard, we will continue to support international endeavors pursued within the UN, the African Union and the Economic Community of Central African States.

Turkey will continue to observe the developments in the Central African Republic in the framework of the importance it attaches to its bilateral and multilateral cooperation activities with the African countries and will maintain its strong support to this country in economic and political fields.

We follow closely the situation of our citizens in this country, as our contacts with them are maintained.
