No: 84, 13 March 2015, Press Release Regarding the Visit of H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey to Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam

H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey will pay an official visit respectively to Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam on 14-19 March 2015 within the scope of Asia-Pacific regional tour.

On the occasion of this first visit to be paid from Turkey to Cambodia at the level of Foreign Minister since 1970, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu will be received by H.E. Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly of Cambodia and will meet with H.E. Hor Namhong, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia. Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu will also attend the official inauguration of the Turkish Embassy in Phnom Penh which started to operate on 1 November 2013. On the occasion of the visit, the “Agreement on Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic, Service and Special Passports” between Turkey and Cambodia will be signed.

On the second leg of his tour, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu will pay an official visit to Thailand. During this first visit at Foreign Ministerial level after 25 years, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu will exchange views on bilateral relations, current regional and international issues with H.E. Tanasak Patimapragon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand.

In addition, Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu is expected to deliver a speech on foreign policy of Turkey and our opening up policy to Asia-Pacific region during the conference to be hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and the Saranrom Institute of Foreign Affairs.

Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu will visit Vietnam on the last leg of the tour. Within the scope of this first visit at the level of Foreign Minister after 17 years, he will meet with H.E. Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam and will also be received by H.E. Truong Tan Sang, President of Vietnam.
