We consider the decision to launch proximity talks between Israel and Palestine as a positive step.

We hope that these talks would soon be finalized in such a way to restore the shaken confidence between the parties and to pave the way for substantive and comprehensive negotiations that would lead to a final resolution of this conflict which threaten the peace and security of the whole region.

On this occasion, we deem it appropriate to emphasize once again that the re-vitalization of the Middle East Peace Process on all its tracks is being expected.

The international community should also undertake a great responsibility to make sure that this new window of opportunity towards peace and stability would not be missed.

Turkey is determined to continue its active contributions to the peace efforts.
