No: 48, 15 February 2023, Press Release Regarding PKK Terrorist Organization Affiliated Persons’ Hideous Propaganda Act During the European Parliament Plenary Session

Today, a group affiliated with the terrorist organization PKK organized a demonstration during the Plenary Session of the European Parliament (EP) and sabotaged its legislative activities. It is unacceptable that persons affiliated with the terrorist organization PKK can easily enter the EP premises as such and demonstrate as they wish. The fact that there was no immediate intervention to these people is another anomaly. This action, which we strongly condemn, reveals the incapability and insincerity of the European Union (EU) and in particular the EP to combat terrorism.

As long as the EP and other EU institutions maintain such indifferent attitude, it will not be possible to end PKK’s presence and activities within the EU, despite being listed on the EU list of terrorist organizations. It is also a deficiency that must be questioned through whom those persons could have accessed unnoticed the Parliament premises.

Following a similar PKK provocation, the Bureau of the EP with its decision taken unanimously on 21 November 2017, denied access to EP premises of individuals and groups affiliated with terrorist organizations listed on the EU list of terrorist organizations. We call on the EP to meticulously implement this decision today as well.
