No: 305, 1 December 2016, Press Release Regarding Participation of Foreign Minister H.E.Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, in the Sixth Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process

H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey will attend the Sixth Session of the Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process, to be hosted by India in Amritsar on 4 December 2016.

Acting upon the understanding that the problems encountered in the region of the Heart of Asia necessitates joint and regional solutions, and therefore aiming to reinforce regional cooperation and solidarity through security building measures focusing on Afghanistan, the Istanbul Process was established at the “Istanbul Conference for Afghanistan” held on 2 November 2011 under the leadership of Turkey in collaboration with Afghanistan. Turkey maintains her active role in the Istanbul Process.

13 regional countries including Turkey and other countries supporting the Process as well as the representatives of regional and international organisations will participate in the upcoming Sixth Session of the Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process to be co-chaired by Afghanistan and India in 2016. Foreign Minister H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will also hold bilateral meetings with the Foreign Ministers of other participating countries of the Process on the sidelines of the Conference.
