No: 250, 25 July 2014, Press Release Regarding the Assistance Provided by Turkey to Palestine

Turkey continues its unabated efforts towards stopping Israel’s operation against the Gaza Strip, in which hundreds of innocent civilians lost their lives and thousands were wounded, and ensuring a lasting ceasefire in the region, as well as its efforts for responding to emergency humanitarian needs of Palestinian people who have been affected from the attacks.

In this framework, upon the request of the State of Palestine, a financial support amounting to 640,000 U.S. Dollars has been transferred to the Palestinian authorities by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) with the aim of contributing to meet the urgent need of fuel for the only power plant in Gaza. The fuel to be procured locally with the aforementioned amount will provide opportunity for the power plant to continue supplying electricity to hospitals and other institutions of vital importance in Gaza.

Humanitarian assistance efforts for Gaza announced previously by TIKA, Disaster and Emergency Management Administration (AFAD) and Turkish Red Crescent also continue.

Turkey will carry on with its support to its Palestinian brothers who are struggling to survive under the attacks and blockade in Gaza with all its means.
