No: 235, 25 September 2016, Press Release Regarding the Visit of H.E. Boris Johnson, UK Foreign Secretary to Turkey

H.E. Boris Johnson, Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs and an accompanying delegation will pay a visit to Turkey on 25-27 September 2016 to express solidarity of the UK Government with Turkey following the failed coup attempt on 15 July 2016 targeting our constitutional order.

Foreign Secretary H.E. Boris Johnson will hold bilateral talks with H.E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, be received by H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Turkey and H.E. Binali Yıldırım, Prime Minister of Turkey, and meet H.E. Ömer Çelik, Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator of Turkey. He will also visit the the Parliament building severely damaged in the course of the failed coup attempt.

During the meetings, latest regional and international issues will be discussed and opportunities to strengthen and develop the comprehensive cooperation between Turkey and the UK will be evaluated.
